Re: [OT] Serenity

I was impressed that they captured the feel of the TV series and it rocked.

Re: [OT] Serenity

Yeah, I'd recommend watchingthe Firefly series first to get a better grip on the characters.

If you like wit, character and dialogue over the course of a movie (rather than wading through inane drivel to get to the 10,000 CGI soldiers in a set piece battle) then you'll probably enjoy Serenity. Two types of people WON'T like it: people who hate scifi, and people who are still hot for wire-fu. (there is some kungfu action in places, but the universe of Firefly/ Serenity is not populated by flying super-ninjas).

But, I like wit, character and dialogue over the course of a movie AND 10,000 CGI soldiers in a set piece battle - is there a movie that fits that criterion that anyone knows about?

Darn, and I like flying super-ninjas - and Godzilla, and corny jokes that are actually funny....

Too bad Leslie Nielsen doesn't have Godzilla in any of his movies....
:-)

But of course, silly...

It was called "Attack of the Clones"!

You're joking, right? :-/

I must have missed the dialogue. I suppose the wit was sorta there - that was the scene where they fell down the length of the ship that had artificial gravity, right?

...was there a character in the movie that had character? I suppose you might attribute that to 'Kung Fu Baby' Yoda...

Geez, all it needed was Godzilla to fit my OTHER criteria. :-D!

Re: [OT] Serenity

That's ok, if you have seen Serenity.... then you know what the Reavers are...... My current project is the construction of a Reaver fleet........

Re: [OT] Serenity

I'm getting ready to watch it in a few minutes. I hear I should not be disappointed.

Re: [OT] Serenity

As of yesterday, I managed to get a brand new copy of the 14 original episodes (to include the 3 never shown on television) on DVD, for $20.00.
I also finally got my copy of Serenity back from the friend who borrowed it (he had it for 3 1/2 weeks......) So this weekend is definitely going to be fun.

For the Reaver Fleet I am designing, I am going to pretty much just sort of slap ships together. Some of them will have some higher tech (never more that +1 in any category, and never more than 1 category) alongside ships with lower tech..... The fun is putting together the figs for it........LOL
I am designing little styrene claws and spikes, just to make them look violent..........

Re: [OT] Serenity

I was thinking of using BFG Orks for the Reaver ships.  They have that kind of general crapped-together feel that the Reaver ships have.

Re: [OT] Serenity

That would work.... I am totally scratch building mine, and I am not going to copy anything off the movie, if I can do it......  There is no such thing as a standard Reiver ship.

Re: [OT] Serenity

Correction..... all reaver ships tend to have dead bodies hanging off of them...........
