Topic: Rules Question: Minimum/Maximum Rolls

Hi,

Quick question about the Minimum/Maximum Rolls rule in Starmada Unity which appears under 4.2 The To-Hit Roll, 4.3 The Impact Roll, and maybe other places ...

If you roll a natural 6, and then re-roll it per the rules, what happens if the re-roll comes up as another 6?

Do you then re-roll that 6 as well? Do you keep re-rolling any 6 that comes up until it's not a 6?

For reference, the rules say this ...

Minimum/Maximum Rolls

Modifiers may result in a situation where a to-hit roll cannot fail; e.g. a +2 modifier for a weapon with ACC 3+. In such cases, any die that comes up 1 (before modifiers) is a miss.

Likewise, modifiers may create a situation in which a to-hit roll cannot succeed; e.g. a -2 modifier for a weapon with ACC 5+. In such cases, re-roll any die that comes up 6 (before modifiers) and add 5, along with any other modifiers.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Re: Rules Question: Minimum/Maximum Rolls

Theoretically, yes. If the required to-hit number is modified to, say, 12 or more, you would do the following:

1) Roll your initial dice.

2) If any come up 6, reroll them and add 5.

3) If any of THOSE come up 6, reroll them and add 10.

Thus, to achieve a 12, you would need to roll a 6, then another 6, and then a 2 or more (2+10=12).

However, the need for such a thing is remote at best. I am hard-pressed to think of any set of circumstances that would apply a -6 modifier or worse.
