Topic: Iron Mammoth RIP?

Iron Mammoth sculpted the greens of the Defiance Assault Troopers.

Just saw a depressing front page announcement here:

I have yet to hear from IM myself, but will let folks know as soon as I do.  If anyone has any information, please post it here.

David Drage: are you still checking this forum?...All the best to your family, in any case.

Re: Iron Mammoth RIP?

Kudos to mr. Drage for prioritizing family before business. Too few people do so, I believe.

Still, can't help feeling disappointed that it's again looking like there will never be official Defiance miniatures. Come to think of it, the entire history of D:VG's been a bit of an uphill battle, eh?

Ah well. Have to count my blessings (they amount to the D:VG rulebook, although it's a kind of keystone blessing of course so I'm not complaining too loudly) and go back to "converting" the SST Mobile Infantry into Assault Troops, then...

Re: Iron Mammoth RIP?

Well, its certainly a good thing for him to concentrate on his family like that when he is needed. I wish him only the best...

Perhaps he will still do the Defiance minis as a freelance project at some point, as mentioned in the first portion of the announcement on the website.

Re: Iron Mammoth RIP?

Looks to me like he's going to be just doing freelance sculpting. Given that he was attempting to sculpt, cast, and market, this will be a serious drop in workload, especially if he wasn't the kind of guy who found accounts, P&L Statements, and reconciliations to be easy, intuitive and fun.

This leaves you looking for moulding and casting. I know that Reaper miniatures does both. questions@reapermini.com  is the email address that might lead you to getting a quote.

Here's a guy who does moulding: http://www.themoldworks.com/

Also, Eureka miniatures http://www.eurekamin.com.au/ has its "100 club" where they'll design and cast anything if you can ensure 100 sales of that item (I think).

Re: Iron Mammoth RIP?

Hi all, sorry I have not responded to this thread before, I only just spotted it!

Thanks for understanding my reasons for backing off a bit on the figures manufacture side of things. smile

I am indeed going to concentrate on freelance scultping for the time being.

However, on the subject of Defiance do not give up all hope of the figures turning up. I have had the production moulds produced and will be collecting the first castings sometime this week (maybe the weekend, depending on schedules etc.). big_smile

As soon as I have some I will post samples to Demian!

As for what happens then, well it is all in the air. I still really like Defiance and want to produce the figures for it. I certainly wont be selling them direct to the public myself, but there are several option open that Demain and I are discussing. Nothing can be confirmed until Demian has product in his hands, obviously!

I may carry on producing the figures here in the UK and ship them to the US. I will only consider this if I can find a company in the UK who would like to sell them over here.

There are other options, but I can't go into too many details at the moment.

I can assure you that, one way or another, the figures will be available in the very near future!

Thanks
David
