Is the most-recently updated version of this beastie stored somewhere? I didn't see it on the Yahoo group.

Is the most-recently updated version of this beastie stored somewhere? I didn't see it on the Yahoo group.
I'd offer to upload my copy, but its already been mucked about with other changes that are no longer 'standard'.
No biggie. I downloaded the one on the first page of the thread.
Is there a FAQ or Readme as to how this thing works? If I want to set a faction's maximum weapon range to 12, for example, the spreadsheet won't seem to let me do that. What am I missing?
To limit the range to 12, I think what you really do is design all that fleet's weapons with ranges 12 or less. Then when you design ships, those are all the choices you get.
andy
To limit a faction's range to 12, unprotect the Nation sheet and change the 18 to 12 under Maximums. That should do it.
It looks like some of those maximums are formula driven, though -- the Shields one, for instance. I can change that, though -- I'll tinker under the hood a bit and see what kind of mileage I can get out of it.
Here is the sheet that I have updated.
Individual tech levels for Weapons and Equipment (all set to 0 in case not required).
Text sheet added.
Interdictor Field added.
I'm having trouble getting additions to the Equipment list to show up in my Template dropdowns. I can edit entries and the changes show up, just not additions to the list.
I'm using Excel 2000 on XP Pro, and all sheets are unprotected. I'm working from an xls copy of the xlt.
Cheers,
Christopher
Have you altered the cell range for the drop down Equipment lists (cellsQ14 to Q35)? Any additions to the list At $AD$3:$AD$72 are placed at the end of the drop down list.
Or do you mean the Equipment shown from Cell B83 on the template sheet?
Thanks for the quick reply!
I am referring to the dropdowns on the Template page Q14 to Q35. The Validation formula is the same as you reference.
I entered a new item on the Tables page, line 41 cells H-P.
H = Stormtrooper Division (9700)
I = 390.00
J = FIX
K-P = blank
This is just a convenient way of listing the troop contingent for an Imperial class Star Destroyer.
I tried entering these on my sheet and had no problem.
I wonder, did you make them available on the Nation sheet, Available equipment, Column I(41?).
That was it! Sorry for the trouble - too much to digest all at once.
Cheers,
Christopher
A new question:
When you change the Defense option on the Nation page to Screens, should the text headers on the Template page also change from "Shields" to "Screens"? Will it throw anything off if I simply type in the appropriat cells (G-H8 and C-D-E-F53-54)?
Cheers,
Christopher
I do not think that the designer got around to that yet.
Why not do it this way.
Enter "=Nation.$D$13" in Template cells G8 and C53 (They will auto change then without you having to type in each time)
Also, in Template cell G53 put:-
=+IF($C$53="Screens";(REPT("o";$AI$7*4));REPT("o";$AI$7))
Which should show the number of "boxes" for Screens.
is there any way we can get the out put sheet to look like the "real" starmada sheet?
i don't much like the loks of the shipyard record sheet.
No offense intended, of course
jim
OldnGrey,
Thanks for the help. However, when I type in "=Nation.$D$13" (without the quotes of course) I got a formula error. I tried =Nation!$D$13 (with an exclaimation mark, saw it elsewhere) and got a "macros disabled" error.
Not a big deal. I should invest some time in learning Excel code.
Cheers,
Christopher
catenwolde,
Put this in Template cells $G$8 and $C$53 instead then.
"=+$Y$73"
Jim,
OK, Added Starmada sheet. Just enter details on Template sheet and print the Starmada sheet.
Some changes though.
Will show Hull up to 25.
When Screens are selected, the "Shield" number 1 to 5, is changed to "Screen" numbers 4 to 20.
Paul
Update 26thFeb List sheet now changes between Shields and Screens.
Update 4th March cosmetic changes to diagram (see firing arc page 8 of starmada rules).
Paul,
Thanks, that did it.
Dare I ask how to incorporate that ods file with the Starmada style sheet into Excel 2000?
Cheers,
Christopher

Rock on!
Woops,
Forgot to update the List sheet.
Now changes to show either Shields orScreens.
For anyone using KEB Defence, Here is a version for that.
Could not get it to change properly from Shields/Screens so it is seperate.
4th March Cosmetic changes to diagram to represent firing arc page 8 of rules.
And another one ...
Adding a Stutterdrive (or anything that calculates off Engine ratings) results in the "Used" and "Left" fields displaying an error in the form of "#NA".
Adding a Shockwave (or anything that calculates off Shiels ratings) results in the "O" and "CR" fields displaying the same error.
Cheers,
Christopher

Some good samaritan has to open it with Open Office.org and save it as a xls sheet.
I was hoping that Paul would do both formats, but given his isgnatuire line, that may be asking too much
Fixing the Stutterdrive and Shockwave was a page or two back, checked my last postings, they work fine on the .ods sheets.
What version are you using?
I did not post the sheets in xls because I cannot check them. However I will try.
I think that OpenOffice is a better choice just because a lot of people cannot fork out for Excel. If more people knew of it, I am fairly sure that the Shipyard and other spreadsheets would get more use.
Here is the Shield/Screen version.
Update 4th March cosmetic changes. Diagram to represent firing arc on page 8 of rules.
Here is the KEB version.
If there are other things which would be of use on the shipyard, I will have a go at adding them.
Update 4th March cosmetic changes. Diagram change to represent firing arc diagram on page 8 of rules.
I was able to get the original version to work, but I'm having a problem with the Open Office one. I'm supposed to copy the Template sheet to a new sheet for each ship, right?
As soon as I copy the sheet, the new one as #NA for Used and Left.
What am I missing?
thanks
andy
