Topic: Palladium is in dire straits....

Off topic?

Apparently, someone embezzled enough to hurt them financially...

If you're a fan of theirs, might give it a look-see.

Re: Palladium is in dire straits....

Well, I hate to kick anyone when they are down, but I just can't get worked up about the idea of Palladium going under.

I've been fairly outspoken in the past about just how much I despise that company, and it's president in particular, so I'll leave the rest unsaid.

Re: Palladium is in dire straits....

I find it sad that they are being hit so hard...particularly given the implied circumstances.  Having been a business owner and having something similar happen, I can honestly feel for the folks there.

Unfortunately, as a gamer, their system has left me colder than a frozen mackrel and after a couple go rounds with it...I can't feel a loss related to it. :?

Re: Palladium is in dire straits....

I'll admit that most of my friends and I can't stand Palladium's game system.... But we do like the background material..... They do have good stuff to borrow to other systems.

I just don't want to see another big game company go under, as I prefer variety in the roleplay market.

Re: Palladium is in dire straits....

I've got some of their older stuff, but like most of you, I don't like the idea of a gaming company perhaps going under - especially due to something like embezzlement.

I agree with Nahuris, in that their stuff had enough interesting fodder for bringing into other systems. I've never actually PLAYED anything they produced, but the Robotech stuff certainly made an impact on my wallet - nobody else I know of had the information they had (at the time) in print as to what all the mecha might be like.

Unfortunately, trying to convert their oddball SDC/MDC system was a chore that ended up being beyond me - the values seemed arbitrary at best. They also seemed enamored of RIFTS, whose setting was too chaotic to me - I much preferred their earlier 'Palladium System' fantasy stuff.

Now, if we could do something like that with Kevin's new wargame/RPG system....

Re: Palladium is in dire straits....

I agree with some above. I'll hate to see all that source material for the HERO System go away.
