Topic: confusion on the rules... primary weapons

When it talks about equipping a unit it says every infantry model in a unit must have the same primary weapon with the exception of leaders and heroes.  how does this work if you're using a unit with 2 infantry frames in it with different primary weapons available to them?

does this mean that i cannot combine frames to form a unit unless they have at least one primary weapon in common?  all it says is that this unit would be required to be exclusive (different frames in it) and that the frames must be of the same quality.  it says nothing about how to equip the primary weapon in this situation.
please clarify.

Re: confusion on the rules... primary weapons

Primary, support and side arms designations are by the frame, not by the unit. The number of the weapons of different classes available OTOH are by the unit, not by the frame.

So if you have Frame 1 (F1) with primary weapon Weapon 1 (W1) and support weapons Weapon 2 (W2) and Weapon 3 (W3), F2 with pw W2 and sws W1 & W3 and a mixed unit made of 3 each you can have all 6 of them carry W1 (all F1s have pw and all F2s have sw) or W2 (vise versa) for example, but you can only have up to 3 W3s in the unit (discounting officers, heros and the nonstandard weaponry aug).

Re: confusion on the rules... primary weapons

tnjrp is correct, primary and support weapons are defined by frame, but this is not clearlt spelled out.  Make the following change to reduce confusion:

Page 12: under “Primary Weapon” and “Support Weapon” replace the word “figure” with the word “frame” and add the following sentence to the end of the paragraph under “Primary Weapon”: Units that contain different frames define primary and support weapons by frame.

Re: confusion on the rules... primary weapons

IIRC the way it works is explicitly spelled out for ad hoc units. The same rules wouldn't automatically apply to all mixed frame units, obviously, although in this case they do.
