Topic: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

Be forewarned! A shameless plug is jumping into your star system!

I just wanted to let all of the Starmada fans know that Noel Weer's VBAM/Starmada supplement, STARS DIVIDED: THE TERRAN CIVIL WAR, is now available for sale! This 138-page book provides all of the rules and information you need to replay the Terran Civil War. This includes all of the VBAM statistics to manage your empires, as well as all of the technologies and ships necessary to play out battles using Starmada X.

For more information, visit the product page at RPGNow (http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=7260).

The cost of the book is $12 for the download version, but for a limited time it is on special for $10. VBAM Games likes to reward the early birds that purchase our juicy worms!

A print-on-demand (POD) version of the book will be available in about two weeks. I am waiting for a second proof to come back, then it will be made available for sale.

/buys a copy

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

Hello,

This looks very interesting.  I will definitely want a book version {print on demand?} of this; willing to pay extra.  I enjoy sitting on the porch while reading a good book.  Al though I can read things off the PC screen, I enjoying holding and reading.  (Gasp!  How old-fashioned<LOL>)

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

I have a second proof copy coming this way from Lulu, and once I have verified that everything is right I will be setting it up so that people can order hard copies from either Lulu or RPGNow. Purchases through RPGNow should get a discount equal to the purchase price of the book.

Hello All

I am so chuffed about this book, its my first paid and published job.
It was a lot of fun creating the starship art and for something I play as well. Fills me with pride to see people are buying it and liking it too.

I would guess your a Brit too, well a fellow Englishman did the ship art.

big_smile

I have seen the very same notice on Waterstones doors around here too...

Oh yeah, Tyrel did the cover print out ok ??

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

Thus far, I'm very pleased with the book.  I grabbed thhe pdf a few days after it went live.  smile

One thing that I would have liked to have seen would be print-on-demand counters, as was done with the VBAM Starmada guide.

Outside of that, two thumbs up.

And you would be correct, too--I live in a town called Taunton, famous for its cider, and the fact that its not very noticeable otherwise...:D

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

Ah Taunton, I have heard of it. The wife worked at the Minehead camp years ago, I beleive thats in the vicinty of Taunton.
I beleive I visited said camp whilst still a foetus...

Hmmm Proper cider, I am well into that, ever a beer festival on I am on the cider! Best we can do is the nice Westons stuff bottled and on offer at Morrisons.

As for me I am up in Pie Eater land.

So, I guess you're Ian....
:-)

I've been hoping you'd answer some questions over on the FOTS_3d list about VUE....

The version that I had in the first test proof came out too low resolution for some reason, but I think that is because I exported it using the wrong Acrobat Distiller settings. That is part of the reason that I am waiting on the arrival of a second proof copy before I set the book up for POD availability; I want to make sure people get the best quality book possible, even if they have to wait awhile to get a hard copy ordered to go along with their electronic version.

I have top down views for some of the ships, but if Ian could send me top downs of the rest I could draw up some counters and post them on the site. I can't remember what Jay did with the other counters, but I can create some based on the counter template I use for my B5W counters (which are themselves originally based off of Rich Bax's counters at richbax.com).

I'll check with Ian and see if he can do that.

Your wish is my command.
I did do some black on white ones, I think I sent them to Jay>?

Yes Middenface is Ian... Middenface is a character from Strontium Dog.
Just don;t ask what a midden is...

I'll ask the question again, over on the FOTS_3D list, as I'm sure that few people here want to delve into the technical aspects of 3D artwork in VUE.

..once I get back from some errands.
:-)

Looks like you're working on the 'other end' of things from a Starmada point of view.

Yes, Minehead is close enough to us--but the closest towns are Wellington and Bridgwater--Minehead is far enough away that we can take the mickey out of them big_smile

Pie Eater land? So up north, then. You were doing so well...:D

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

Guess what?

Yep, its happened again. I've screwed up.

Bought the file, printed off about a quarter of the book, totally forgot to save the files to my computer, and now I've lost it.

A fiver for just 39 bloody pages--and thats not taking into account the printing costs of £3.90...

Idiot...

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

Wigan, eh?

Well done on staying in the Premiership BTW--with your squad I was thinking they'd go down, but 10th ain't bad...

Thank you, its nice to be in a town with a team in the league.
Hopefully we will stay up this season too.

I was asking about Starmada and Vbam as I was curious how many people on this side of the pond play it.
For the record I am in 2 VBAM games:
Tuffleyverse -Fullthrust VBAM
And another campaign set in another universe.

And my own solo Commonwealth game.

Ouch. My sympathies. I have done that before myself, but usually without the printing.

Re: Stars Divided: The Terran Civil War

I still have those if you want me to send them along. I just did all the drawings in AI, then put them on a pretty basic counterset with firing arcs.

You should do. With Jewell in charge, your team provides quite a few shocks. Its a pity Jose stinking Mourinho and Chelski won the season, but when you've got the entire Siberian oil fields behind you you can afford to buy all of the 'best' players...
