Topic: Mishima Warzone conversion

While the Brotherhood full treatment conversion project unfortunately stalled pretty early on and hasn't budged since (the fluff aspect of it, that is, although I hope I can get the chance to revisit that at some point in the near future), I decided it prudent -- in the light of Warzone upheavals of the past two months or so -- to release the Mishima force list I've had waiting in the wings. Please find the attached PDF.

PS. I did give the list a final once-over before publication and will run a more thorough pass on it the soonest, there being no incentive better than knowing your mistakes are public knowledge. But for now it's quite possible there are still some rough edges in there so handle it carefully wink

PPS. A "full treatment conversion" is a term I made up to distinguish a simple stats conversion from one system to another from a conversion where the fluff and the profiles are fitted into the receiving universe -- in this case, the Defiance one. Perhaps not what you'd like to see, but that's the way I does 'em.

Cool, can we put links to these on to the Defiance web page?  We can avoid trademark issues by just naming the links "player created army" or somesuch.

I do believe these lists are at best borderline illegal (at worst not so bordeline...) as there are numerous potential copyright issues involved.

At the very least the fluff is partially a direct rip although parts have been rewritten or at least reworded, and the frame names are for the most part from the original Warzone books as well as the army name, obviously. In the case of Mishima, most if not all weapon names have been changed (the same for the Ar-Men, incidentally), but that's a small consolation if somebody decides to hit you (and maybe me) with copyright violation rap over the use of the fluff or any copyrighted names.

That said, I don't think it's any more legal to allow them be posted on this forum than it is to post them on the company's main site. In the light of which, do go ahead if you feel like it as I have no personal reason to deny that sort of publication.

Just don't say I didn't warn ya :wink:

Hereabouts, I believe it really doesn't mitigate that you don't know you're breakin' da law... There are premeditation clauses in Finnish legistlation of course but I don't think they apply in such cases as this. Hence, it would be immaterial if I admitted to knowing for certain these lists involve copyright infringements.

Now, I'm not sure they do or don't, but I still wouldn't officially publish them on a company site in the current form. Just to be on the safe side.
