Ok so let's start with a setting I know, the Ten Worlds (from Attack Vector).
The classic match-up in this game is the Saladin Incident.
In this scenario, the Saladin, an Al-Rafik Class frigate with medium ranged weaponnery, rear missile launchers and empty docking bay, is attacking the Warspite, a Wasp frigate armed with short range powerful lasers and two one shot missiles launchers.
Each of them also bring light coilguns on their flanks.
The Al-Rafik score points by eliminating the Warspite or by escaping by the Warspite's edge (where there is an umprotected convoy). The Warspite must simply kill the Saladin.

I choose to not represent the missile launchers by seekers but with classic batteries, in the name of simplicity.

Ok, I just bought and read the core rules.
What should I buy next, the Rules annex or the Imperial sourcebook ?
The ship designs, campaig system, scenario generator and 3D movement system of the latter seems better.
But are the rules in the annex going to be more useful ?
forgot about demo, i'm ready to try the full rules, even with options.
Nothing, really nothing can beat the Cantal, and especially the Salers.
This is a french guy that say it !
So, I'm searching someone to play with me on the demo rules, with VASSAL of course, in order to give it a try.

i'm Antoine, 26 years old, IT, living in France
I'm fond of space combat games, i started with Full Thrust, but I can't find opponents, so I search for a game playable with VASSAL.
So i start to create my own game, Task Force Sol, but i quickly give up.
Next, I buy Attack Vector, a greeaaaaat game, I love it, much, really love it. There is a VASSAL module but no player interested in, and the forum is almost dead.
So I go to starfleet battles, here there are many players, but the online engine is direct play only (no pbem so with american I have many hours of difference), and it is not free ! More important, there is not newtonian vector based movement. Buy it for nothing ...
And, eventually, browsing the Starship Combat Network Forum, I find a thread about Starmada, and follow the link .....
