Thanks Dan, once again, for putting out quality stuff. Now (at the risk of attracting the ire of Admiral Dugan), back to work! No time to rest on your laurels!  lol

Thanks, both for the feedback and the spurs in the butt. smile

For the record, although I'm very fond of the cover I managed to do for the Core Rulebook, I have to say this is the best Starmada book cover yet... It's simple, but there's just something about it I really like. Good job, Dugan!

Very little difference I know, change to new figures?

Honestly, I don't know why the numbers 0.7 and 1.4 came about in the first place.

These numbers are as correct as I can make them:

Piercing +3 = 2.0
Piercing +2 = 1.8
Piercing +1 = 1.5
Non-Piercing -1 = 0.8
Non-Piercing -2 = 0.6
Non-Piercing -3 = 0.5

If the printed copy is purchased , will the corrections be included?

Obviously, I can't correct books that have already gone out, but I will make changes as appropriate (one of the benefits of "print on demand").

Having said that, the only error found so far is in Appendix A, which is subject to change with each release anyway...

Anyone reading for the first time would ask, Is it a flight or each fighter in a flight that is rolled against as a target?

Page 26 of the Core Rulebook (rule 5.4) states "Each fighter flight is considered a separate target".

Especially for VBAM.

I see no reason not to keep it.

Poo.

They did not go up. That's a typo.

Obviously, I'll fix it... but give it a few days to make sure there aren't any more.

Majestic Twelve Games is proud to announce the release of Starmada: Iron Stars -- a "crossover" product linking together two of our most popular gaming systems.

Queen Victoria died in January, marking a literal and symbolic end to the 'Victorian' era. Two new powers—the United States and Japan—were entering the world stage, even as many in the old guard began to creak under the weight of their own might. Communism, in the person of Vladimir Ilych Lenin, had begun to rear its head in Czarist Russia. Technology and the industrial revolution were changing everything, including the weapons of war. And while the "Boxer Rebellion" in China was easily quashed, the incident demonstrated growing resentment of European dominance.

It was into this powder keg that the first Martian cinder fell, in a Surrey field during the spring of 1901.

Starmada: Iron Stars reveals a world in crisis. Recovery from the Martian Invasion is slow, and its effects will be felt for decades to come. Hopes that the extraterrestrial threat would result in a new spirit of cooperation and coexistence have been quickly dashed, with the Great Powers scrambling to take advantage of technological tidbits left behind by the invaders. While recent conflicts have been thankfully limited in scope, it seems only a matter of time before Humanity is engulfed in a new conflagration—this time of its own making.

The intent of this product is to introduce fans of the Iron Stars universe to the Universal Game of Starship Combat, while at the same time exposing those Starmada players who may have been reluctant to jump into a different environment a glimpse at an alternate Earth in which the Martian Invasion really happened.

Even if you're not thrilled at the possibilities of Edwardian space combat, there is plenty in these pages to expand any Starmada setting, including new options like:

* Faceted shielding
* Crew-killer weapons
* Etheric movement
* Critical damage

And more!

Starmada: Iron Stars is not a stand-alone product; ownership of the Starmada Admiralty Edition Core Rulebook is required. For more information about Starmada, Iron Stars, and all of our products, please visit our web site: http://www.mj12games.com

Please tell me Dan isn't doing page layout in Word...

Actually, yes. Yes I am.

I've tried Quark Xpress, I've used Adobe Pagemaker, and I honestly have yet to find anything I can't do in Word that I could have done with those.

(Probably more a commentary on my skills in Xpress/Pagemaker than an endorsement of Word's functionality... smile)

They aren't the first to do this.

And, yes... I think it's silly.

Of course, I think the whole concept of "bad" words is silly.

Now, football is a sport

Yes, it is. I do like me some footy.

Honestly, I won't deny that cricket and rugby are sports, too -- heck, I can acknowledge that NASCAR and even golf are sports, albeit ones I couldn't care less about.

Of course, all this is getting off of the main topic, which is that Kurt Warner is my hero. smile

(BTW, having a family that watches American football, as well as baseball (yawn), Aussie rules football and Gaelic football, I do like American football)

How do you watch baseball over there? Is it carried on Sky Sports?

Does anyone know what the game is called?

Never heard of it.

You intended to do a replacement page/s for the examples on pages 11 and 17. You said that the example on page 11 was totally wrong. I do not remember seeing a revised page.

The problem is, I only have the "current" version of pages 11 and 17, so I can't tell you if/when it was changed.

Please PM or email me and remind me what I should have done... smile

Was there a revised edition? I know some revised ships were posted here on the forum.

I know that the ships don't work out in terms of space units and such -- is that what you're referring to, or do some of the CR values come out wrong?

Really?

We can't be any further away from each other on this opinion.

The cartoons from when I was young were cookie-cutter, poorly-rendered crap. Even the ones I enjoyed watching were badly drawn. The toons I mention in this thread, however, are for the most part, very well-done. Whether you like them or not, at least they have a style all their own.

Maybe you're thinking of the Saturday AM cartoons these days, which are worse than anything Filmation ever did.

I'm not going to say you have to like South Park (it's not for everyone), but for the record, I have NEVER seen a fourth-wall comment from anyone in the show.

Anyone who says "Cartoons were better when I was a kid" is deluding himself.

Sure, Saturday AM cartoons have never been more inane than they are now, but places like Cartoon Network and Nicktoons rock:

Spongebob Squarepants (the pre-movie episodes; once they took a hiatus to make the feature film, they lost something)
Invader Zim (shortsightedly cancelled midway through its second season)
Mr. Meaty (puppets, not strictly a cartoon, but good stuff nonetheless)
Making Fiends (just frickin' brilliant)
Chowder (who knew a catering business could be so dangerous?)

Even second-tier stuff like "My Life as a Teenage Robot" is pretty entertaining. And this doesn't even get on true classics like "South Park" (again, once they came back to the series from the movie, it lost a bit of its touch) and the pre-"who shot Mr. Burns" Simpsons...

However, anyone who tries to tell me "Family Guy" is anything but a waste of air time will be instantly banned from this forum. wink

Futurama (This one was easy. I love Futurama.)

A Big Piece of Garbage - Ep. 8 - Season 1

With an extra:
Crow: "Take me to...Uranus!"
"Are you ashamed of...Uranus?"
"I hear Uranus is big and gassy."
"We have to get to Uranus to wipe out the Klingons!"

For the record, my source for the quote is MST3k. Never watched Futurama.

And the MST3k quote comes from season 6 (1994-1995), which predates the Futurama episode (May '99).

Just making sure Crow T. Robot gets his proper credit... wink

I haven't found that gaining the initiative is all that important -- there's a definite tradeoff whatever you choose (move last or fire first). But I would think the easiest "optional" rule to implement would be:

If you are really concerned about it, I think the fairest thing would be to simply alternate the initiative after the first turn; i.e.:

If I win initiative in turn 1...
You get initiative in turn 2
I get initiative in turn 3
You get initiative in turn 4
etc.
