No, it's not my return to designing Infinity forces with USS... Rather, it's Corvus Belli's up-and-coming-on-Kickstarter scifi dungeon crawler board game (they are pretty specific about the dungeon bit apparently, tho I haven't seen them spill the beans on why yet). Brings to mind the certain litigation over a comic book having the same name as MJ12's game used to have back in the day

A conversion of Union of Colonies (think "Soviets in Spaaaace!") force from the abortive Total Extinction game that Sentinel Games from Spain attempted to KickStart some time ago is now available. Also made some fixes, changes and additions to the Glorlons list from the same game. Get 'em through my DVG page:
http://heros.netai.net/html/DVG.html
BTW "the case" mentioned above is a D:EoA conversion list available here (see "What's new on August 28, 2016"):

Long time no be here*...
Anyway, tried my hand at making a grenade launching ranged weapon as per EoA rules but I wasn't quite able to figure out if their ammo is supposed to be constructed separately using the grenade design rules or not. In other words, do they fire a specific type of grenade from the force's grenades list or is it just any grenade that can be designed under the rules and not necessarily otherwise available for the force?
I'm pretty sure it's the former and in this case it wouldn't really matter since AoE rules enable you to design enough different ones to arm all the infantry frames that needed another sidearm as well as to provide the launcher with ammo if that's how it must be done.

*) and it does look like that applies to other folks as well
Looking at the rules, I would definitely say that the penalties are cumulative but I don't think a third crewman is stipulated.
Defiance's (that other one's) science advisor interviewed:

In regards to litigation possibilities, it must be noted that it doesn't look like Mr. Rose's game and the tv-show/game Mr. Grazier's been working on are very much alike. But then again, neither were Starslayer and Starslayer but all the same, the rest is, well, history
An acquired taste, I'm sure...
AKA "Let's do it to them since they (not the same 'they' but who's counting) did it to us"

It might concievably be that high for an injection plastic sprue but a sprue isn't (usually) for a single miniature. I doubt it's that much for a spin-cast plastic sprue such as DG is using (reportedly, and with the caveat that I have a habit of getting information concerning them wrong).
Perhaps MJ12 should do a KickStarter to fund a new round of name replacement for Defiance :geek:
smokingwreckage wrote:They reckon it's set up to offset the cost of the mould only, which costs about $30,000 per figure.
Not possible. Operations like Defiance Games (which BTW I still think MJ12 should sue ) wouldn't work if it was that high.
smokingwreckage wrote:Cheap plastics in 28mm; enough to keep you dungeon crawlin' well into the next decade.
That cheap plastic looks to have gotten Reaper enough filthy lucre to keep them "dungeon crawlin'" well into if not the next decade then surely at least the next fiscal year
Predators from the Predator movies are an ever-popular subject for the lack of global IP control. For those who are willing to condone such practices to get some alien minis, here's the latest and perhaps most blatant effort, this time from Switzerland:
http://www.predastore.ch/lang-en/11-kits-28-mm
They are expensive limited edition resins and since the company is Swiss you'll pay postage through the nose too, but at least they are rather nice and well animated sculpts.
And yet more space lizardmen! Namely, I (and everybody else) seem to have neclegted to mention the Karack zar by The Baggagetrain. Nothing too inspired IMHO but they don't look half bad when nicely painted:
<IMG src="http://the-baggagetrain.com/online/templatemedia/all_lang/resources/_wsb_554x395_Bagagetrain+Lizardmen+001.jpg"></IMG>
I'm wondering where does the idea of there even being such an edition in the works came to mind..?
The new Evolution of Arms supplement does change a few things from the main rules so Defiance is kinda at the version 2.5 or so now (counting the original Starslayer as v1.0 of course).
More big bad alien lizardmen, this time from Studio Miniatures:
http://www.studiominiatures.com/Shop/Atlantis-Imperium/Goloth.html
They recently picked up the Atlantis Imperium line of minis (formerly on Apocalypse Miniatures), from which this first (and reportedly previously unreleased) batch comes from. I have no idea what else they have in store, other than the Ancient Greece -influenced "Spartans in Spaaaaace!" that I remember from AM days:
http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=33092.0
SM has stated all AI sets will be released in this "battlesquad" format which is pretty good for D:VG purposes.
ETA: some new Goloths are out now - Command models and a support weapon.
...which is sort of a very big spanner in the works for making an official D:EoA-based supplement.
Still no reason to not do it on a fan-based basis if one prefers.
terryoc wrote:Star Trek troops? No idea. Star Fleet Universe troops? A fair bit of information available
If you say so... I have no idea what is available for Star Fleet but I'm pretty sure there is very little to none at all of official, canon ST infantry information. The focus of the various series and the movies has been clearly elsewhere, as obviously dictated by the scripts needing to involve the actors playing the ship crews.
Reagardless, the demand would have to be very big and very vocal for such a supplement happening except as a player-driven effort that theoretically could be later made official by ADB stamp of approval and published.
It would almost certainly be techinically doable, with the caveat that I'm not at all sure how much information - official or otherwise - there actually is available about the infantry troops in Star Trek universe. I wouldn't hold my breath on anything like that ever happening tho, unless it's by concerted fan effort made official.
It looks like Defiance Games is almost ready to actually sell something to someone:
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=249945
Their first batch, now availabe fro preorder (not strictly for purchase as the news item text claims) is a fairly predictable if reasonably affordable set of Space Marines (the Aliens kind, not the Ultramarines kind), but they are promising Bugs and even "intelligent aliens" soon - as well as numerous human factions, including some less well covered ones like the Chinese.
BTW is the cease and desist (based on the use of the word "Defiance" in a context that may confuse customers) from MJ12 already in the mail?
These are obviously unofficial and IIRC as well since I don't have the PDF on hand just now...
(1) I do believe the book explicitly says someplace that D:CQB points system is to be used only in specific close quarters battles, such as playing games inside space ships. Anyway that's obviously how it's meant to be, cf. two Imperial army lists at the back of the book.
(2) The melee option is similar to an augmentation as per its use. See the example about the Meraxilla buying melee weapons in the book.
(3) No idea what this is about and anyway I wouldn't be able to answer.
Marauder wrote:TMP seems to have an issue now that they are so busy they can only post news for people who pay for advertising. So if you want to bring this to people's attention on TMP I suggest just posting in the message boards
Well, you just can't get free advertising these days - unless it's fanboy spamming of course. Demian doing it would only make it mildly more official and in fact it seems to be frowned upon at TMP that a company rep does it without the company becoming a paying advertiser there.
Anyway, I already spammed D:AoE on the TMP scifi board and also at Lead Adventure. Somebody at the former was flabbergasted that somebody bothers since "[nobody] plays this game any more". D:VG - the best hidden secret of the scifi ruleset world
On the issue of a calc prog, I started on an Access database to do the calculations once. But I don't think I have the time to commit to completing it either. I could try if I do start to use trains more in the near future but I won't promise anything.
cricket wrote:Hadn't heard of "Beasts of War" (I know, I'm not among the most-hip...)
It's a very big profile :ugeek: site and mostly about the Big Guys obviously. I'm not sure were they get the money to do all those vids and flashy graphics (all of those bells and whistles make the site very slow to load BTW), but maybe they don't ask (too much) money for publishing a news item.

Did't see anything on Tabletop Gaming News either as I just checked, but I'm not really very familiar with how that site works so maybe I just missed it.
http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/
Ah, then your usual places just aren't my usual places. I most certainly haven't seen anything on The Miniatures Page nor yet on the reportedly currently the-most-hip Beasts Of War as of yet - those are the biggest miniature wargaming nexuses I frequent.
Woot!
Copy downloaded. Can't say much about the content yet but it does look good as always.

Mongoose Publishing has released the first Kleggs for their Judge Dredd game. An entire squad has been tentatively promised sometime down the line. For those who don't know, Kleggs are a race of lagre carnivorous reptilian aliens who like to hire as mercenaries and take payment in meat (including but not limited to corpses of their fallen enemies):
