Topic: Special Orders

I always liked the abstract "Command and Control" aspect of special orders in Battlefleet Gothic used to gain an advantage/disadvantage

This could work in Starmada much like "Emergency Thrust" by adding to the orders phase. ie:

Emergency Thrust:
double engine rating but risk engine damage in end phase

Come to New Heading:
double engine rating but reduce offence or defence (something like -1 to hit or single battery can fire or opponent gets +1 to hit due to drive signature etc)

Lock-on special order:
+1 to hit (all targets/single target/single battery/single roll) but reduce engine rating (0/halve/-1)

Anyone know of an similar rules in any Starmada supplements etc or playtested their own version?

Re: Special Orders

I've done exactly this sort of thing. We basically picked a bunch of the optional rules and made them 'special orders.' Emergency Thrust, Evasive Action, Damage Control, Directed Damage, Shield Reinforcement. We talked about adding a Lock On, but never got around to trying it.
