First Starbase I have ever made, this is designed to revolve around and protect a planet. I made it to have as few weaknesses as possible (outside of the STUPIDLY HIGH cost), thoughts?

I would not attack a planet protected with one of these, but would blockade it. 
Or I would take a lot of small ships with short range weapons and 5 pts of screens that would face the station.  Since this station won't move, build up speed from a distance and make sure that when you are 31 hexes away that you are going speed 30 and then move from out of range to very close.  And then blast away with these cheap ships with short range weapons.  It could work.  8-) 
Stations are more vulnerable to this type of attack than ships which can move....

Hence the drones, the screens wouldn't work well vs it. And with 24 packs of drones, it can take a few ships with it. But yeah, the fast ships would be effective, the problem would most likely be simply slowing down after that to try dealing the finishing blows while I repair myself.
But I think your strategy would be the most effective one vs this, expecially with the sheer amount of small ships you can get with 9000 points

How to kill a 9000 pnt base with 35 pnts of ships.

Start 466 hexes away with 1 Flotilla of these.

Accelerating at 1 hex per turn, in 29 turns, they will arrive at range 31 moving at 30 hexes per turn. The next turn, at range 1, you should, on average, get about 150 hull hits. yikes  (Yes, I did take into account the armor.)

If nothing else, this should be a reasonable stand in for an asteroid strike. :twisted:

It is to defend against threats like this that all Bases may want to consider having a... cloaking device(!)
When these accelerating ships are 31 hexes away, the base can go into cloak the next turn and when the swarm arives, there is nothing to shoot at <LOL>.  Any thoughts?

Take 60 of them and space them out so they arrive 1 per turn. If the base stays cloaked, I send the rest of my fleet to destroy whatever the base is supposed to be protecting.

Or I could build a large wooden badger.... tongue

A couple of thousand points of escort ships with lots of anti-fighter weapons. You have a 9000 pnt Starbase. I can build a LOT of ships for 9000 pnts.

That and ships can out run fighters/strikers given enough time to accelerate.

I'm not sure if your purpose for posting here is for you to say you "one upped" me, if you're trying to be annoying, or if you're just a troll.
Its a starbase I designed for fun. You're designing ships that are quite simply STUPID specifically to defeat it. You win the battle, I walk away shaking my head and making a note never to play such a silly person ever again.

Not trying to troll or anything. You posted a maxed out over the top design so I posted a maxed out over the top design specificaly to counter it. Or were you looking for a "reasonable" response?

Frankly, I find that type of min/max design process to be annoying and no fun to play. I prefer fleets/ships with flaws and warts that leave you asking "How the hell am I supposed to use that?"

Quite frankly I would never use this, I posted it to amuse my Uncle (Beowulf) and others with a ridiculously over the top useless space station that will never see play. Like, ever. Infact it was supposed to cost 9001 so I could exclaim "ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND" when asked how expensive it was, I have no idea why i dropped that one point.

The real space station I play costs 3k and has screens to protect it. It can die quite easily if left unprotected.
