The the other game it works perfect.

How do you get rid off the white movement lines that follow your ships around?
For a moment, I failed to realize this topic is about Vassal -- and I was trying to decide how best to respond to the question...
"Lay off the weed -- that should do it."

Could the gaming universe survive without weed? I suppose as long as there are still Doritos

Is it not working at all, or is it picking up your ships and moving them as you try to move the line? If it is the latter, that happened in one of my games with MadSeason and it went away the next time I restarted Vassal. I've found at some times it acts a little weird and gives some crazy results, and then all of a sudden it will work fine.

Just a quick Round one message for a few players. Sorry for the list spam!
Robin:
I've tried to send an E-mail over the weekend and it bounced three times. if you see this, I haven't forgotten or stopped, I just can't get you the turn.
Falstaffe:
I sent you my actual setup and still waiting for your initial placements. Let me know if you received them!
-Bren
That is odd since I have been exchanging turns for my other game all weekend without trouble :?
I will send you test e-mail for you to attempt to reply to.

Maybe your ISP is filtering him out. Jim Callahan's direct emails to me are frequently stuck in my ISP's spame filter, and I've yet to fathom why.
Games 1 and 3 are complete. Any more?
Remember, I need point totals to determine the total VPs and the margin of victory.
Thanks!
Game Results to date (Victors in Bold):
I guess we had some pretty short games.
Why are the other games taking longer, more manuver?
I would like to hear some AAR of the other battles.
anyone like to play an e-mail game just for fun?
Are we playing to a certain VP total, a turn total or something in between. I couldn't find the official answer in any of the E-mails and I'm pretty sure that we are wrapping up game 4 soon!
Thanks
-Bren
Actually, the idea was to play to the bitter end and then notify me of VPs for each side. So far, I have none of this, so we shall see how it shakes out.
I was under the impression we were using the 50% of fleet purchase level per the rulebook.
That is what we used in my other game. If we are playing to something else then we may need to restart that.
You played to 50% losses and then stopped? That would be okay, too, as long as I know how much the other guy lost.
This is actually very important and could actually make quite a difference.
Someone could get to just over 50% but the other side could be very close (or maybe the "victorious side" has a lot of nearly destroyed ships) and in the next turn or two the "loser" could wipe out the supposed victor.
What I am saying is that I thought we were using the basic rules which would result victory being declared once you have score VPs equal to 50% of the fleet total (so 178 in this case), but now you are saying we should be playing to a different target...
Hmmm... Yes, I see what you're saying. Let's ask what happened in the other two complete or near-complete games.
Sorry for the confusion. I thought I had indicated what I had in mind but I see that I did not. Rather than refight a battle, we might have to make Round 2 decisive.
Any resolution to this? I'd hate to see the tournament stagnate (any longer) over this issue.
-Bren
Crikey, I'm waiting for someone (anyone!) to send me some VP totals from any of the battles.
We still have two battles to complete, as it is. Hopefully, these will be done as soon as possible.
Kevin
Go ahead and scratch the last two--I'm in both. Hadn't thought it would drag out this long and school is about to start for me again. Sorry.
Overall--mixed impression of Vassal. Think it might be fun to do a game hosted on a server, but the pbemail gets slowed down due to the simultaneous nature of Starmada. What Vassal could really use is a series of automated turn-by-turn prompts rather than the "delayed note" mechanic.
Okay, falstaffe. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Yes, Vassal live through a server is very much like playing face-to-face, especially use Ventrilo, or something like it. And it would require no changes to the RAW to play Starmada that way.
We'll have Brendan and Erik play out a game vs. each other, giving a total of 4 games for round 1.
Kevin
With falstaffe out, we have replaced games 2 and 4 with a new game 2. The other three games are now complete and mostly have been for some time. Hopefully, we can get the last game done quickly and move one.
Blacklancer is going to figure out the score for Game1 (using the 50% mark) so I will update soon.
I guess if you're betting people, the odds are on the Empire winning the last one...

I sent the setup for the replacement game tonight, so hopefully we can zip through it this week. Thanks for the vote of confidence I'm pretty much just hoping to get some points! E
Round One is over. I did manage to scrape in a few points...let's see those Hegemony refits please!
Cheers,
Erik
Indeed, round One is over and the Hegemony has been pwn3d!
Total points by player:
For the record, I think I could have organized the scoring a little better to differentiate the scores better. As it turned out, and this is in no way an unfair determinant of winners, the top players are those who performed best with the Hegemony. Well, and this is why I decided from the beginning that all players would be able to play as each faction.
I will put together some new ships, especially for the Hegemony, whose best admirals have died and whose ship designers have all been lynched, but the matchup for round two will be:
Gold Medal Games:
jygro (Empire) vs. Blacklancer99 (Hegemony)
Blacklancer99 (Empire) vs. jygro (Hegemony)
Bronze Medal Games:
RobinStirzaker (Empire) vs. Inari7 (Hegemony)
RobinStirzaker (Hegemony) vs. Inari7 (Empire)
I will try to come up with some consolation prizes for the Silver and Bronze medal winners. And a "booby' prize for last place.
Look for the new ships designs soon...
I will work on the new designs some more and get them up before the weekend, so people can begin fleet-building and maybe even gaming.
