Topic: Converting Firestorm Armada Ships
Hello,
I have got some Firestorm Armada Directorate and Sorylian ships. I tried the Firestorm Armada rules but I found them too complicated for what I was looking for. I just bought Starmada Nova rule book and so far I love it.
This is exactly the complexity I was looking for and the Hex system remind me of Battlelore 1st Edition which I love too.
So here is my point, using the Drydock V1.1 I was trying to convert my Directorate and Sorylian ships into Starmada Nova.
As I am a new player I would like to hear any recommendation you may have.
Here are the results so far:

So far I am using these conversion rules:
SHIP:
Hull size = HP*2
Thrust = Mv/2 (rounding down)
ECM: PD/4 (rounding down).
Shield = Shield Rating (if the ship can take additional shields, then always add them)
Armor = (2xDR + CR)/3 rounded down
WEAPONS:
Banks:
Fore -> [FF]
Fore(Fixed) -> [FR]
Turrets -> [TT]
Starboard/Port -> Weapon x2 [SS2], [PP2], BASx2
Gun Racks -> [PS]
Aft -> [AA]
BAS and Range
For each weapon line look what is the best damage value.
BAS = Best damage value.
Look where is the best value to determinate the Range:
1 column - > Range: 2-4-6
2 column - > Range: 3-6-9
3 column - > Range: 4-8-12
4 column - > Range: 5-10-15
If several columns share the same best value, take the highest column number.
Traits:
Torpedo: Gid, Slw
Primary Weapon: None
Beam Weapons: Dfs
Scatter Weapons: Sct
Kinetic Weapons: Rpt
Gravitational Weapons: Cts, Prx
Cyberwarfare Weapons: Cts, divide BAS by 2, the ship gains +1ECM (do not stack with other cyberwarfare weapons)
Energy Transfer: Add a new weapon with BASx2 and Exp (one use only)
Infestation Weapon: Rpt
STARSHIP SYSTEMS :
Hyperdrive
Wings X -> Drones: X
MN X -> Mines: X
AP X -> Marines: X
Escort -> Escort, if no weapons add a 2BAS weapon Range 1-2-3(Pnp)
Stealth -> ECM +2
Cloaking Field -> Cloaking Device
Scout -> Scout
Self Repair -> Regeneration
Infestation -> Marines x 2
Planetfall X -> Transport X
Using Firestorm Armada Scenarios and Battle Log
Point Values:
It is easy to use Firestorm Armada scenarios. Starmada ships cost around twice more than Firestorm so you just need to multiply each scenario point values by 2.
So for instance a Patrol Fleet is 1600 Points (2 x 800).
Tiers
You should follow the Tiers 1, 2 and 3 restrictions from the Fleet Manuals.
Battle Log
The Battle Log value of a ship is its point cost divided by 100 rounded UP to the nearest 0.5 value.
e.g.1. a 220 points ship has a 2.5 Battle Log value.
e.g.2. A 24 points ship has a 0.5 Battle Log value.
1/ If an enemy ship become Crippled you earn 1/2 rounded DOWN (to the nearest 0.5 value) of its Battle Log value.
2/ If the same enemy ship is destroyed later during the game it will earn you its remaining Battle Log points.
3/ When one of your ship is destroyed you loose its Battle Log value.
e.g.1. Player A has a 2.5 Battle Log ship which just became Crippled, Player B earns 1 victory point. Later the same ship is destroyed, Player B earns 1.5 additional points and Player A looses 2.5 points.
e.g.2. Player A has a 0.5 Battle Log ship which just became Crippled, Player B earns 0 victory point. Later the same ship is destroyed, Player B earns 0.5 points and Player A looses 0.5 points.
Hyperdrive: Using hyperdrive with a ship does not affect the Battle Log however if it was Crippled the player how damaged it keeps the points he received.
Distances
Scenario distances can easily be converted in hexagons: 2" equal 1 hex.
Planetfall
You can use ships with the Transport[x] trait for the Firestorm System Wars scenarios.
