after this many years, you'd think I'd remember
Many happy returns of the day
Thanks to all who serve, have served, or died in defense of their country.
Had a bad spell with the hackers a while back and it's sort of shied us off the attachments, usually folks use a 3rd party locale for their pics and link them back to here. flickr, or picasa... y'know.
Dude, I knew that was your work as soon as I saw it...
Sounds cool. I'd love to have a Starmada game at a con where more than twenty people showed up!
Here's and idea for what you call RDPs. Instead of defining it as 6 Traits allowed, simply assign each trait a value and give the players some option to design a fleet based on the traits.
Players get 10 Trait points to spend on their fleets, according to this schedule. If a player doesn't spend all the points, they may be turned in later for victory points. players may not choose more than one "negative" trait.

I'd just need the original models and I can make them water tight...
The more the merrier, but when are you planning to do this? I'd like to see how it turns out.
there was no porting, I "rebuilt" the minis from the doga imports.
A time intensive experiment, but one I got darn good at.
It was cool because I got to see a stylistic difference in how stuff was put together and it made is kind of fun.
Alas, the designs I see in the S:AE books are freaky cool...
if we're going to do minis. lets do MINIs!
I need 6 "lines" and a website.
I can do the website, but the minis themselves... I have no talent...
OR that he has great taste!

It's funny -- sometimes I delude myself into thinking Starmada is still MY game...
Well...it IS your game...some folks just had more pointed arguments.
and very Long ones.
What are the limit of your campaign? points or resources of some kind?
I can honestly say that the best games I played were one where I was part of a larger campaign effort and didn't have much stake in the ship designs.
I LIKE playing other people's ships, heh
BeowulfJB wrote:I usually play a mixed force of battleships and destroyers, but try to limit the number of ships. This is because some of my gaming friends like to use weapons with AreaEffect. If I have too many small ships, it becomes almost impossible to disperse them to aviod these. The AE weapons are usually range 24 & 30. (My friends also think that having maximum range rocks.<LOL>)
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to deal with AreaEffect weapons when playing lotsa little ships?
Keep them farther apart.

Tougher, actually, as it's even canon. It would require more counters on the board - slowing the game, and more tracking stats - slowing it down even more.
Well, could we use very slow seekers or somesuch and CALL them plasma torpedos?
Kar Kar Kar Kar I'll be takin' yer head spongebob, there can be only OOONNEEE!
the yahoo group is a good place to put the stuff you can't put here

falstaffe wrote:The question about "which weapon gets slagged?" reminded me of a house rule I was toying with. It would seem to make sense that if you score a hit, it would have to be on a weapon that FACES you (if one is available.) Anyone play it that way?
We do, or at least I try to make it make sense most of the time.
GoDawgs wrote:Hello everyone,
I just ordered the Adimiral edition and the ISS and I have a couple of hopefully easy questions.
Yay!
Meaning, if a ship has a AB AB AC AC, they would get a total of 4 separate attacks if a target was in the A arc (possibly more if the weapons ROF was more than 1)?
Yes. Technically, though, it's still 4 attacks, just with a different number of dice.
I only say that because you cannot split the ROF die rolls between different targets and I don't want you to miss that (p 22 )
Finally, when a weapon gets hit, how do you determine which batteries are destroyed?
Sorry if any of these are answered in the Demo rules... I looked through them, but didn't see the above mentioned.
I don't think that questions is answered in the demo, and I'm too lazy to go check but these are good questions, for answers to others, head out to the FAQ.

You are welcome. and welcome to Starmada (and mj12games, now go buy all the rest of the games too )
read a review in entertainment weekly that was right on. It said that Iron Man used all the tried and true superhero movie tropes and yet managed to be cool anyway.
Overall, I'd give it an 11/16
