Awesome.  I hope to see carriers and fighters for all the races beyond just the Hydrans.

I have almost all the information required to get started on Rumors of War after the holiday. That will include the Andromedans, Vudar, and ISC.

Do you think that Rumors of War will be the end of Starfleet Universe for Starmada  or do you think you'll continue the series? Too early to tell?

I hope we get more background material than what Iron Cow gave us to be honest.

Speaking of wallets have you decided on the price of the Brigade and Full Thrust supplements, Daniel?

I used my amazing Excel-fu skills to remove the limits.  big_smile

Thanks, man. I do appreciate it. I've been doing a few  of my own but most of the ships I'm using are your designs with a few of my own adjustments.  One of the things I've done is eliminate shuttles since they are increasing combat value  and I don't want to use them for combat. Btw, how did you get Drydock to recognize a 6 on the Heavy Polaron Beams' Impact stat?

If we do bring back variable damage I think it should be nerfed.  Having it increase damage by 2x or 3x is probably too much. Instead of 2x or 3x let it do just do 2 or 3 points.

Very nice. Any thought to doing other races like the Cardassians and the Dominion?

Some good ideas there, John. I will also use a high ROF to emulate several systems going down at once.

Is it possible to create a weapon that can shut down systems due to power loss like what Star Trek's Breen can do? I'm kind of at a loss here.

This sounds fantastic! Thanks for doing this.

What does everyone think of the new rules? Pretty good I would say. The only concern I have is that shield reinforcement might encourage turtling but I haven't played yet so I could be wrong on that.

Edit- Oops. I was wrong about shield reinforcement. It can only be used once per volley.

Hello I am wondering when the unity versions of Klingon, Romulan, etc. Actually any of the starfleet universe versions of Starmada Unity are  going to be released anytime soon. I thought they were going to be released in March or April of this year but so far as I can tell nothing yet. I am desperate for some Unity, SFU style as I really enjoyed nova . Can anyone answer this question please? Thank you in advance.

ADB is really swamped by their Shapeways miniatures line right now. When it eases up it'll come out then.

Imperial Starmada.

Daniel, could you tell us the 5 universes that are used?  Imperial Starmada is a given and maybe some SFU ships but I'm not sure of the others.

Yes. Both standard shields and screens (what Nova called "armor") can be divided into four defensive arcs: forward, port, starboard, and aft.

Nice. Will faceted shields be the standard for Star Fleet Armada?

Will we have faceted shields as an optional rule?

In Nova,  when you lose the weapon trait diffuse(firing a phaser) as you are trying to destroy a seeking weapon can you instead use the short range modifier(+1) to help kill the seeker?

Not a bad start. I think it would be best to match the bonus/penalty to the existing "size categories" (as seen in optional rules like Lauching/Recovering Fighters). For example, in the Admiralty Edition:

Hull 1-3 = -2
Hull 4-8 = -1
Hull 9-15 = no change
Hull 16-24 = +1
Hull 25+ = +2

In addition, making the change directly to the speed would affect the ship's ability to accelerate/decelerate; i.e. a ship with hull size 7 and an engine rating 4, moving speed 5, could normally move between 1 and 9 hexes (disregarding turns). With the above adjustment to speed (-1) it could move between 0 and 8 hexes. Not quite the effect we want.

So I suggest applying the modifier to the thrust requirement, provided the ship is making at least one turn.

For example, a hull size 16 ship with an engine rating of 4, moving speed 3, plots the following move: "U1". Normally, this would have a thrust requirement of 4 (3+1). However, due to the effects of limited maneuverability, the thrust requirement is increased by +1, making the plot illegal. The ship may plot "U" instead.

Speaking of maneuverability, giving a -1 bonus to the thrust requirement for all Kilngon ships would be a good way to emulate them for Star Fleet Armada. Only problem is that it'd make their ships more valuable and you'd have to up their combat rating. Hard to do for a cool optional rule.
