well i have quite a few paroom station minis... i am hoping the new defiance stuff will be able to simulate ethermarine shipboard action in IronStars
In the excel builder Wasseratahl hull is listed under special equipment but I cannot see it in the rules. Can someone point me at it?

Sorry i did not make myself to clear to begin with. I guess most people know about the GW figures, mongoose and void. Although the GW plastics are nice I tend to feel i should aim at buying from some smaller independants where possible when sourcing for such an independant friendly game.
So I was thinking of those independants that have interesting figs, particularly aliens. The kryomeks are just the type of thing I am looking for as are spugs. Nice indi reasonably priced minis.

I think their are some really nice indi finds out there, it would be nice to collect them all in one place.
Are there any players of Defiance and Starmada around South West London?
Ok I would like to buy a skirmish force or so to use for defiance.
What figure ranges are around that do a nice enough range of suitable aliens at a reasonable price?
It would be nice to have a thread of Defiance friendly figure supplies with little reviews.
Some insectiod types would be nice.
My wife likes board games such as Settlers, Ursuppe, Cleopatra, Tikal, Robo-Ralley etc. We usually at least play such with our friends every other week and 2 player Scrabble at least once a week at the moment.
It would be nice if their were some more MJ12 game players in my area (SW London).

If you were worried add an Augmentation of extra weapon slot. This adds a weapon slot without adding a fire action still limiting the frame.

So my tripods can have a primary in weapon slot 1 and 2 CDWs in weapon slot 2. Exactly what i wanted :shock:
The best you can manage then would be to put a standard weapon and a CDW as the choices for each slot. This could give a mech 2 main guns and 2 CDWs by assigning a standard weapon choice and a CDW choice to each slot. Possibly cheesy but certainly expensive.

Yep an error the artillery should not have a hero cost.... that would make it 3 out of 6 frames and legal.
I had not realised the per unit for augmentations... so if the honed blade is used by 3 then that is 3 of the 12.... interesting interpretation i will have to re-read it as i did not reach that conclusion.

I was thinking of them as mobile terrain.. occupents can be targeted (with a penalty) and can fire out. I would assume HTH could be possible if enemy could 'jump'. Of course the ship could also be targeted.
The Beta customiser spreadsheet is designed to produce a similar output. That was my start point. I then modded it by adding lines and tidying it up so that all the information was there in a similar fashion the the main rulebook. Once the information was filled in in XL I cust and paste special (as graphic enhanced metafile) into Word and used the simple Word tools for layout.

How do you simulate a truck, Jeep or similar in Defiance?
If I want to design a APC where the passengers are only partially protected and could be targeted seperately how would this be done. I assume their should be an Augumentation/Flaw for it.
Any suggestions?

Yes. 3 weapons 1 primary and 2 CDWs. It says on page 77 note 1 "Even though CDWs do not technically require a fire action they still count as a vehicle weapon choice."
A Mech may have 2 fire actions. as CDWs do not count as a FA then could you choose more than 1?
If an AFV had a weapon choice of a smoke single use CDW, could it buy 3 shots?
What I wanted was a strong single use vehicle CDW and a weaker multi use one. This was for a martian tripod, to make it fit with its description in War of the Worlds. The strong one is the black smoke (poison+smoke) and the weaker on a terror attack (the martian cry OOO-Laaa).
It does not seem to be disallowed but I admit it is stretching the section as written.
I want a mech with a primary weapon and 2 CDW as CDW do not take up Fire Actions but do take up weapon choices would this be legal?

i found 2 obvious errors when I first played around.
1 The vehicle can only have a 10+ field save no matter what the army limit is. The source line in the validate popup needs amending... I will work it out and post it, this week.
The other is more erious and I cannot see how to reverse engineer to fix... when you pick a weapon range-set from the table then if the first bracketing and type are the same then the points are the same. EG: HW -/-/30/60/- is the same points as HW -/-/UL/-/-
Any players in SW London?

A fishtail involves rotating the car the minimum to align its centre-line with the direction arrow

Inretrospect it would be better that a spin just aligned the car with the arrow. Totally random new direction. This would avoid someone using the spin as a free bootleg. I think I will change it to that.
A GW scatter die is just a die with arrows on it. a spinner or a coin with an arrow on both sides would do just the same. It is just a way to get a random direction.
Small template is 3" diameter circle and a large is 5" diameter.
Everyone I know has all these. Bad assumption on my part sorry.
Next turn Dan wants to make a 90° turn without skidding to get a shot.
At the beginning of the turn he brakes to 40MPH (braking can be performed at the beginning or end of a turn) 1 handling, 3 remaining.
He then moves 3 and makes a 90° turn. SDN1 difficulty 3 total 3 handling. Safe with 0 handling left. He then moves 1 forward to end his move. He has a good shot and uses 2 driving skill to aim. He also accelerates back up to 60 to keep his options open. At the end of the turn he has 2 driver skill left and no Handling therefore he recovers 2. It is unlikely he will do much maneouvering next turn whilst he struggles to get the car back under his control.
Worked example of a fairly complex movement. Hope it makes sense.
Dan has Driver skill 6 and is in a car with handling 7 and a heavy engine.
At the beginning of the turn Dan is doing 50mph (5 units of move) and SDN2.
He moves 2 and then performs a 90° turn SDN2 and difficulty 3 total handling used is 6. Still ok with 1 handling left. He accounts the 0 drag (1-1 for high torque engine). He then moves 1 and uses a skill point to reduce turn delay from 2 (SDN) to 1. Then performs a 45° turn SDN2 and difficulty 1 for a total of 2. This takes his total handling to 8 so he must make an out of control check. Rolls a D6 and gets 3 +1 for over handling and +2 for SDN giving a total of 6. He burns a driver skill to adjust the result to 5 and skids. Roll D3 and gets a 2 moving him 2 units in the direction he was going before he turned and his speed is dropped to 40MPH from the skid at the end of the turn. That uses up the remainder of his movement. He is doing 40 and therefore can accelerate to 60MPH and does so.
Dan used 2 driver skill during the turn and all the car's handling. He has no shot to take and so can use his 4 skill to recover 4 handling for next turn.
Next turn will start with Dan with 6 driver skill and a car with only 4 handling. He is going 60MPH.

Updated taking your coments into consideration. Stuck all the tables on the end with 1.5":unit conversion as a quick-read sheet and made up a gang sheet and Example.
