Makes sense, because if it was the former it would be insane overkill should 3 shots penetrate (30 hull...)

Lets imagine I have a 1/2+/5/5 weapon with the traits Extra Hull and Double Damage, and i get 10 damage on the inside.
Does it start off dealing 20 hull and then roll damage, or would it deal 10 hull then damage?

This is where Battle Satellites along with it would be useful...
But I stopped with the big ships once we got piercing +3, there is little point in making a large wall ship when your opponent can knock your defenses down to insignificance at little cost.

And people say my ships are expensive...
Very nice.

It works with the people I play against, the theory being that you kill them before they get to you.
That and the low defensive rating allows for a much higher offensive rating, while keeping the overall battle value low

Offensive Value: 11646.9
Defensive Value: 193.3

The protection is a bit weak, and this shit get very annoyed in the face of area effect, but the sheer fire power and ability to take on multiple ships which add up to more than its value seems to make up for it.

I do have variations with level 4 shields, alot less weapons but better survivability.

Special: Hyperdrive; Armor Plating; Fire Control; Marines (39); Teleporters (34); Transport (2066)

The goal of this ship is to burn the enemy ship empty using the Bio Flames, then destroy it with the flares once it closes range, due to the engines hopefully being knocked out on the opposing ships. This particular ship always has at least two Satellite Cannons supporting it to make up for fighter weakness/lack of mass long range weaponry the Satellite that usually comes along is below

Minimum Range; Inv. Range-Based ROF

Special: Hyperdrive; Anti-Fighter Batteries; Stealth; Science (8)

This guy stays at long range, fires 2-3 times, then dies when they finally close range. Should the choose not to close range (meaning staying out of my Battleships medium range arc), then my Cannon has a ball, each one of its Scatter SParks firing 9 times when at long range, more than enough to hurt ships and wreck fighters.

suuuuure you didn't...

don't you only get half the victory points for ships that leave the map?

Another thing my Uncle didn't mention was that my Battleships had Range Based ROF, thus while getting close would allow him to evade my satelites, my Battleships would be quite happy with the end result.

The Tech 0 thing seems to have worked, my satelites got NERFED worse than a WoW boss a week after coming out, and its alot harder to fit a crap load of stuff on. Time will tell if this works (I still miss repeating...).

No repeating either

I look forward to seeing you again Uncle Steve.
I dropped the Inv ROF ridiculous fire power ships, they kinda took all the fun out since the game never lasted more than 3-4 turns  sad
Though the whole Piercing +3 thing is still just ಠ_ಠ

The ability to shoot further than your opponents is cheesy.
Did you think before you posted that, or just randomly bang your head on the keyboard until a sentence was formed?

I can outshoot you, meaning I can hit you before you can hit me, and I can stay at long range and kill you while you sit out of range or hitting worse wondering why you use such a silly design for a gun.

Seriously, range anything less than 21 on your main battery is just silly.

A range of 12 means that fighters that move 12 or 15 will wreck you. Why not try range 18 or so, it still makes manuvering important.

Hello Glen
The simplest way to defeat my Cloak and Dagger ships is with drones and BFG's, like Glan and my Uncle both already use.
Bombard the trash out of it, and it will be a bit too dead to regen.

Exactly. If you run away from me, shooting me with your butt-lasers, I should win. You've conceded the battlefield to me.

If I have Regen and I am wrecking you with my "Butt-Lasers", I will give you a hint, you aren't winning.

Running away to regroup or to repair then returning to the battle seems perfectly logical to me. The only reason I can see for any complaint would be if your opponent keeps doing that every like 2-3 turns and the game takes forever.

Seriously, turning tail to recover or regroup then coming back full force has always been a viable tactic.

i think that people who complain fighters are super powerful and undercosted simply lack imagination
i played CREW KILLING SHIPS and was able to beat fighters
make no mistake, fighters are powerful, but not invincible
if you believe fighters are ultra powerful, use interceptor fighters, they specialize in attacking other fighters
BTW, nice idea with the sundrone
