It's not a problem. Done it already, and got my version to match the SU value you stated by changing the ROUNDUP function I was using for the ROUND function. I might design a more complex vessel to make sure my Shipbuilder is completely accurate :-)

I might try and do some. It will be difficult to avoid traits, but I was planning (well, brainstorming) a potential fleet style supplement so my mind is already in the right place, or at least close enough to see it on a clear day :-)

Yeah, I think that's what's happening. Even more annoying is that over the last few weeks I've been working on altering the formulae to apply the TL for each item individually. Is it that much of an issue, or is it okay to leave as-is?

My version only had one aft screen. I'll try it out with a second screen. However, I didn't realise bulkheads increased the tracks, so that's both good (in that I know that my shipbuilder is wrong) and bad (in that I have a lot of redesigning to do)

Edit: I also designed the vessel with a +1 TL in Engines and Shields, so that may also be a factor in the overage.

One thing I noticed was that some of the ships have hull values above 20. Would I be correct in assuming that those ships have bulkheads, not that they are hull 21+?

I've noticed an issue with the book. To give my shipbuilder a test I input the weapons in and got the figures listed for all but the Submunition Pack. When looking at the figures listed earlier in the Construction section I noticed the Range for the Pack is 6, not 9. When putting these figures into the Shipbuilder I got the correct figure listed:

(1-2) 3x5+/1/1
(3-4) 2x5+/1/1
(5-6) 1x5+/1/1

As an aside, is there any plans for FB2 or later FT stuff to be released, or is it purely FB1? I was doing some conversion notes for the Kra'vak and Phalon, as well as the UNSC and even started working on FT:PC

All the ships in the book use Offset Firing Arcs, so I think ABD arcs would, in normal SUE arcs, be GHJ and ACE would be GIK, or the reverse (ABD>GIK and ACE>GHJ)

By the way, thanks Dan for the link. I'm going to enjoy reading the book as soon as possible.

As of yesterday, an ongoing redesign of the setting has reached around the 60% mark, with complete designs for the Archaic and Obsolete eras, Modern Civilians and Raiders. Still to do: the Modern Military, Berserkers and ABSC. I must admit the technique I've employed of designing from earliest to latest has meant a universe that feels like it's evolving. Before, when I'd only really intended the Modern era and then designed the Archaic and Obsolete eras' ships, they didn't feel right.

I just hope there's no major issues (or even minor issues) with my Shipbuilder as that's what I have been using for the redesign...

Okay, seeing as we've been in isolation for anywhere from two to three weeks now, I just thought it'd be interesting to see how we're all coping.

Myself, I'm sure you all know how I'm coping--making some minor and not-so-minor changes to my Shipbuilder, and working on the SUE-RA version of 'The Nine Benevolent Laws' and, hopefully, some other supplements afterwards. Of course, how I'm going to post them here after I'm done is another matter...

Are any of you working on anything SUE-RA related, or are you focusing on other things?

Just noticed something. Marines do not add their value to DRat. I tried it out with putting my Eternae Suerata-class flag battleship through the Drydock and found the CRat was way off because the DRat was off. Checking, the Marines don't add anything to the DRat.

There was also little errors with the input, but I'm willing to believe that that's just down to rounding--the light and heavy plasma cannons in my Shipbuilder are slightly above the values for the Drydock--25.5 to 25.2, and 111 to 110.8 for the light and heavy plasma cannons in the Shipbuilder and Drydock respectively. EDIT: I'd inserted a ROUND function where none should exist, and I'd done it right at the very start of the whole creation process. Oh well. It's removed now, and v1.11 has a few other changes (mainly cosmetic, such as the all-capitalisation of the Class name in the Drake notation, and the removal of extraneous commas)

EDIT: I checked with another ship, which worked out quite okay. I think the Drydock has an issue with multiple choices of the same equipment option, and it didn't show up shuttlecraft in the Drake notation--no idea why.

(Edit to the above: It seems two or more types of munitions results in the second just displaying as '0')

I had to alter the arcs of the railguns on the Eternae Suerata flag battleship because there weren't enough slots. But SU-wise, they're practically identical

This is a faction I have designed with my own Shipbuilder. Hopefully, if anyone inputs the same weapons etc., into the Drydock and they come out looking the same (well, except for the CRat, which rounds up to the next multiple of 5 in the Drydock), then I've succeeded...:)

The zip file has a copy of both the PDF and the worksheet with all ten ships, just so that people can check it that way...:)

Just posting this in the main Starmada forum so people can a) know I've done a shipbuilder, and b) post any issues with the thing so I can sort it out before I get around to adding the Drake notation generator. Seeing as it's been downloaded a few times, I'm hoping that it means that there's no issues, but I'd like to know for sure so that I can fire up my shipbuilder and gen up some SUERA ships...:)

And, only ten months later, the correct version of the Enohi-Paeli can be found in version 1.02 of the Aliens document

An idea that popped into my head. This is just one aspect of what might be my first supplement. These ships are seeker-heavy with no LR anti-ship batteries. The primary concept I was addressing is using seekers as drones with four shots for each mount. The actual supplement idea (in the very early stages) will have these sorts of batteries as augments for a ship's direct-fire capabilities.

One thing: for the time being, I love the customised range bands. Instead of having to add Guided and, if necessary, Carronade, I just give the range I want for the weapon.

Given that one of the possibilities that suggested itself to me with the introduction of customised range bands was plasma torch-style weaponry, I fired up the Drydock. A few designs later, you have the Brimlithians. Suggestions they're in any way similar to another plasma-utilising faction I designed in 2018 is completely untrue...:D

Seeing as this seems to be the questions thread...

Three questions and an observation or two:

Q1: Are Bulkheads and Damage Control Parties included in the Hull value when applying the Ionized Hull multiplier? Screens aren't, so I'd guess they wouldn't be either, but...

Q2: Are Screens included in the hull value when applying the Regenerative multiplier? Normally I'd say no, but the table at the back of the book has Note [9] following the Regenerative DRat multiplier, which is causing confusion...

Q3: What, if any, tech modifiers apply to Bulkheads and Damage Control Parties? The field for them is blank, whereas all others have either one of the four tech modifiers or N/A.

Observations:

The customized range band example divides the total of Column G by just the range, not range+2 (giving a result of 5.7 instead of 5.0 [4.975 rounded to one d.p.])

Solar Sails, in the main equipment table at the back, is listed as being affected by Engine TL (when in the updated table it's correctly listed as N/A)

Now, on to my main issue. Seeing as I have no internet access at home, how can I (if I can at all) modify version 1.04 of the Drydock to work with all the Rules Annex options? At present, I'm tempted on making a simplified Drake notation generator so I can design the ships and then input the data into the generator, but that means no double-checking (which, as attested by my Blast From The Past supplements when I used the Shipyard, is a Doubleplusungood Thing...).
