You should have told us that Distant Armada Unity is now available on Wargame Vault. There was no mention of it on the Amarillo Design Bureau website either.

I would think that a weapon with the traits Incapacitating and Disruptive would be close enough. Since the Breen weapon ignored shields, you might also add Modulating.

I have always used the same limits for firing expendable ordnance as for firing drones. When even a large ship can fire no more than a handful in each turn, they are less than an unbalancing weapon. However, I agree that letting a weapon fire from a magazine gives a closer simulation of some backgrounds.

A fairly simple way of assuring a diverse fleet is to require that a ship use no more than half of the remaining Combat Rating. For instance, in a 1500 point fleet, you could have a 750 point Superdreadnought, a 370 point Heavy Cruiser, a 190 point Destroyer, and two 95 point Frigates.

I may as well put the Relthoza here. I am half tempted to give these ships weapons with the Trait: Continuing Damage, as this would fit the fluff in the original source material, but the statistics would not justify this. Therefore, I am treating these the same way that I have the rest of the ships.
The cloaking devices on Relthoza ships do not work like the cloaking devices in Starmada. They work more like Starmada CountrMeasures and that is what I will give them.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          While it is somewhat late to do so, I would like to give my view on Pivots and OverThrusters. A ship can face any way that you like if it is not in motion. While the rules do not have to comply with the laws of physics; if they did so, then a ship in motion at a constant speed, applying no thrust, should also be able to face any way that they like. As to whether a ship that is applying Thrust to change its' motion should be able to Pivot, I do not much care. It probabably should not, at least in the interest of keeping the rules simple.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          None of this helps players using ships from the Armada books. While it is not cited in any of the Armada books, the original source material does contain the rule that a ship must face its' direction of motion. It is true that players may agree to any House Rules that they wish, but if they are choosing to play in a specific Science Fiction background, they might as well comply with its' rules.

I do have some old conversions for Leviathan, but these tend to be very large ships. Anything above about 2, 000 CR becomes too clumsy to play with. Yet, if I try to reduce the Leviathan ships to a more appropriate Starmada size, it squeezes the flavor of the background out of them. Further, since I have no other means to post to this Forum than to type them into the computer at the Public Library, such a large ship would take several sessions to post. Therefore, it will be a long time before I get around to posting my Leviathan conversions.

Now, if I could manage to find where I put my copy of Interceptor, I could give you some useful conversions.
