Both the square and hex flat counter types can be glued to black foam core. This increases the durability, keeps your storage ease, and makes them easier to grab on the map.
Funnels/ Drones could be handled as part of the weapon design system after a bit of thinking and being creative with things.
Basically design a unit with the A.I. Modifier and treat it like a re-usable ballistic weapon system. Might need a bit more finesse than that, but it points you in the right general direction.
Heat doesn't quite work that way in Wardogs. Pretty much all weapons and most systems produce heat which makes the unit easier to lock-on to. Now...rather than heat;
Weapon Enhancement (Melee/Energy/Kinetic)
Overcharger: The weapon has been modified with extra capacitors and/or barrel modifications to increase its damage by x2. This system requires the weapon to have not fired for two previous turns in order to charge up. Once charged, the weapon will inflict double its normal damage (double the normal dice rolled, not twice the actual damage points) when striking its target. Upon completion of the attack, a d6 is rolled to see if the Overcharger burns the weapon out rendering it useless until repaired. The chance of burn-out increases with each use of the Overcharger during battle; first use burn-out occurs on a d10 roll result of 1 and increasing by +1 per use. (ie: A PPC fires in Overcharge mode for the 3rd time and will burn-out on a d10 roll of 3>. A Railgun fires in Overcharge mode for the 7th time and will burn-out on a d10 roll of 7>.)
Hardpoint Multiplier: x1.3
Thermal Rating Modifier: +1 (when charged)
Been doing a lot of ship miniature 3D modeling over the last year plus as well as finding I had cancer (which surgery and likely a bit of chemo after the last tumor removal will successfully nuke) in March. Been focused on work and my kid without a lot of inspiration to do much writing or what. But lately...I've been getting another one of my ideas...so may be something from that if I can get myself fired up to actually do it.
Could be interesting. :geek:
I still have my Selenites stuff too.
Really like how that ship card looks! Class. Maybe add the relevant national flag in there for added snaz.
I'm going to revive this. I have done some work on a second edition...right up to the point my life sort of went to hell in a hand basket. Mike and Ian have a good idea of things over the last several years. Short version:
Work environment turned toxic due to a boss with more power than ability setting me up to get rid of me.
It worked and I ended up having a full blown PTSD breakdown bad enough to be recommended for disability (which I refused) and was on medical leave for 3 months.
Ended up being let go by the city after the boss started the same crap a week after I returned to work.
Went back to school to brush up on new tech and stuff and eventually took a barely subsistence level job after the UE ran out...followed by a second job a couple years later.
Stress and overwork pretty much killed my creativity. And then I found out the wife had a couple boyfriends behind my back. Cue divorce and custody battle.
Finally at the end of this mess and getting my creativity back despite the single dad thing and still working two jobs.
So if you have things you would like me to look at closer or particular wants or what-not. Speak up.
I know Mike and I had a long conversation on this though I think it was on chat or something. Stupidly, I didn't make notes. I believe the gist of the conversation involved the use of boarding shuttles which would be treated as fighters subjected to starship point defense. Flying Dutchman attacks were not seriously considered due to both distances, velocities, and maneuvers of combatants involved. Surprise attacks would involve a great deal of luck, the infantry ship needing to slip in from beyond sensor range, stealth or drift into Dutchman range, and hope that the intelligence on the target ship is accurate and it is more or less stationary.
That's pretty much correct. Getting knocked down wrecks your movement a bit and may make it easier for the enemy to achieve lock-on the following combat phase (movement of 2 hexes or less).
The Demo Unit file was lost with the website it was on. A subsequent hard drive crash due to a virus also took out the original file which was not backed up.
TenWolde did conversion rules for CBT and the mechs from the basic box set. I have those posted on my webpage.

Yup. Once a unit starts taking damage, the ablative aspect of the AR allows damage to accumulate at faster rates from the less powerful weapons. And as Old n Grey said, certain weapon mods, such as Armor Piercing mean that even lighter weapons might do some harm.
This could be fun. I like it.
Hey folks. I'm not dead (yet). Just been a bad couple years between merry-go-round jobs and having the ex run off with not one but three other guys...and resulting custody battle. I know I haven't been around for a while and I will try to catch up with the forum stuff soon.
There is a game con in March over in nearby Geneva about an hour SW of Milwaukie you may want to check out as time allows Dan.
Nothing that I've seen posted or been told about.
While checking out something else today, I found that Wardogs has graduated to "popular SILVER pick" status at RPGNow.
Well played!
Not at this time due to real life issues.
The idea is to be able to use any scale mini's to play with...though maybe basing off 6mm and using 15mm figs as large(r) units in play is more consistent in scale.
It can be played hexless with a little tinkering, which is perfectly okay as long as you're consistent with it. I'd say that board/table size is up to you as desired. If playing hexless, that lets you alter the range/movement scale of the game via taped distances.
The construction rules were set up in a manner to allow multi-era play. However, it should be noted that less technologically advanced units will be more limited in their abilities.
I'd recommend checking out the Errata thread as well, since there have been a few additions, clarifications posted there since the book was printed.
Happy Hunting!
There has not been a Wardogs/ Quantum Legion conversion to my knowledge. Someone whom has the QL rules would have to chime in on if it can be done.
Didn't have a single hiccup.
Hittin that special eggnog a bit early this year aren't you Dan?

1.The Helmsman
2. Galactic Convoy
3. The Trophy
4. The Mercenaries
5. The Defenders
6. The Siege
7. The Defiance
You'd have to dig around a used book store for those.
Those would be the ones.
warrenss2 wrote:There was also another series that I don't remember written in the 70s that was pretty good.
